JOB DESCRIPTION
Housing Counselor
Nature of Work:
Overall Responsibility will be to work in all area's of Housing Counseling.
Counsel clients through the homebuying process (hand holding), assist in securing
financing to these clients and avoid predatory lenders, assist them in the
prevention of foreclosures, assist and support of clients in their Real Estate
Closing Process. Assist prospective clients with attorneys, real estates agents,
etc.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications include experience in all aspects of Housing Counseling which
include Pre and Post Purchase. Experience in all Department of Housing and
Urban Development (“HUD”) Programs that deal specifically with all types of
Housing Counseling including Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention is a must, requires
a valid CT driver's license. Knowledge of computers e.g. Microsoft Word, Microsoft
Publisher, Microsoft Excel.
Responsibilities:
Reporting all necessary demographic information to the Deputy
Administrator of Housing Counseling
Assist the Deputy Administrator of Housing Counseling in all
aspects of the HDC Homeownership Seminars and/or Workshops after hours as directed
Providing Clients one-on-one housing counseling sessions
Provide an overall view of the home buying process
Analyze the clients credit report, and assist in correcting any
trouble areas
Assist clients in keeping their homes, via Foreclosure prevention
Counseling
Outreach to Neighborhood Institutions
Market if necessary all HDC programs for homeownership and/or
Rehab
Any other duties as may be assigned by the Deputy Administrator
of Housing Counseling
The Housing Counselor will report to the Deputy Administrator of Housing Counseling.
The Salary for this Position is $26,000 to $38,000 depending on experience
and is conditional on HDC receiving funding or development fees for the fiscal
year. This position includes a comprehensive health benefits package. This
position is Exempt full-time, which normally consists of 35 hours, which may
entail working after hours to attend community and/or business meetings.
